Ms. Damour arrived in New Zealand on August 29, 2011 as the Deputy Chief of Mission.  She is a career member of the Foreign Service since January 1993, and has served overseas in Brazil (2008-2011) as Country Consular Coordinator; in London (2005-2008) as chief of Visa Services; in Baghdad (2004-2005) and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2002-2004) as Consular Section Chief.  Other overseas posts include Paris, France and Nouakchott, Mauritania.

During her tenure working at the Department of State in Washington, DC, Ms. Damour was responsible emergency services for American citizens in Africa, including extensive experience in Crisis Management and civilian evacuations.  She also served as a Special Assistant in the office of Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and as Country Desk Officer for Cambodia and Laos.

Ms. Damour attended graduate school at the School of International Service at the American University in Washington, DC.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Government from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.  She speaks French, Portuguese and Vietnamese.
