Tim Beal has researched and written extensively on Korean affairs. He has visited South Korea six times and North Korea, twice. He is often interviewed by the NZ and international media on North Korea. He maintains a well-regarded website on North Korea and co-edits the bimonthly Pyongyang Report. As Secretary of the NZ-DPRK Society he helps facilitate people-to people links between NZ and North Korea.

Over the last year or so his articles on Korea have appeared in the South Korean journals Global Economic Review and International Journal of Korean Unification Studies, and in the NZ Journal of Asian Studies and National Business Review. During that period he has spoken on Korea at conferences and seminars in Christchurch, Melbourne, London, Beijing, Washington, Wellington, and Hawaii. In March 2003 he is participating in a North Pacific security meeting in San Francisco.

He is currently working on a book for Pluto Press of London entitled North Korea’s Arduous March.
