In collaboration with the Southeast Asia Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence, VUW, we have invited Ruth Dix, Political Counsellor, British High Commission in Wellington to speak on “Navigating Global Challenges: Global Britain and the Indo-Pacific”.

Ruth has been Political Counsellor at the British High Commission since January 2020 where she has oversight of foreign and security policy, science and innovation and domestic politics. She has also undertaken a diplomatic posting in South Africa. In Whitehall she worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office – primarily on multilateralism and international security, including UN peacekeeping, the Balkans, and as a Private Secretary to the Political Director – and alongside the Departments for Defence and International Trade on defence and security exports. Ruth has also worked on human resources and has a Masters in Business Administration. Ruth is married to Richard, a Secondary School Principal, and they have three children.
