Ambassador Anucha has studied at UCLA, USC, and Louisiana in the USA and LSE in Britain. His overseas postings have included London, KL and Taipei and he has been Roving Ambassador to the CIS. He was appointed Ambassador to NZ, Tonga and Samoa in April 2000.

Mr. Anucha Osathanond was born in April 1950 in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and Master of Arts in International Political Economy from University of Southern California (USC). He was an Exchange Fellow at London School of Economics (LSE) in 1979. Mr. Osathanond was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations from University of Louisiana. He also graduated from the National Defence College of Thailand in 1998.

Mr. Osathanond joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973 and was posted to the Royal Thai Embassy in London in 1978 where he served as First Secretary (Economic). On his return to the Ministry in 1983, he became the Director of Broadcasting Division and later Director of East Asia Division. Mr. Osathanond served as Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission a the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1989, and Executive Director of the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei, Taiwan.

On completion of his overseas posting, Mr. Osathanond became a Roving Ambassador responsible for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs.

In April 2000, Mr. Osathanond was appointed Thailand’s Ambassador to New Zealand, Tonga and Samoa.

In 1999, Mr. Osathanond was awarded the Knight Grand Cordon (Special Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, the second highest decoration in Thailand’s civil service.

Mr. Osathanond is interested in classical music, painting and golf.

He is married and has one daughter and one son.
